With over 300 players across 15 age-group teams, it takes a huge amount of work to keep the club running safely. We are always in need of new volunteers to help either with one of the teams, or the club more generally. Almost all our volunteers are parents or family members of players and inevitably, as players grow up and move through the club and on to the seniors, work, college, etc., those family members move on too, many having put in many years of work, entirely for free. There are jobs that can be done whilst the children are training, either with your child's team or up in the clubhouse, and others that can be home-based, helping in the background to keep the whole club going. If you could spare some time to help on a Sunday or in the week, we'd be very grateful. We have roles in two areas that we could really use some help with at the moment:
Kit Shop
As well as helping sell playing kit on the Sunday, the Kit Shop also coordinates our First Aid supplies, ordering coaching gear like tackle bags, and distributing team shelters for festivals & tournaments. Our current Kit Shop Manager has at least three other roles at the club, so he needs to hand the Kit Shop to someone else, so he's not spread too thin. There are only a handful of volunteers helping him, so we could also really use more people in general. Currently most of our volunteers have children in the same team, so if they play away one week, often we have no-one to open the shop. If we could assemble a bigger team, we could work out a proper rota so people have to work less often and the shop is open more consistently.
Big Summer Kick Off
Harlequins' Big Summer Kick Off event takes place on 27th April. We'd like to take advantage of their discount for community clubs and send as large a group of players and supporters as possible to enjoy what should be a really fun day out. However, we need someone to coordinate the ticketing and transport for us. This would be a great role for someone who doesn't have time on a Sunday to help, but would like to be involved with the club.
Duties would include obtaining quotes for coach travel, liaising with our team managers and with Quins on ticket sales and our website team on coach ticket sales. This would be a great event to close out the season, but we can't organise it without someone with the time stepping up to take charge.
If you could help in any of the above roles, or elsewhere in the club, or with a particular team, please get in touch. Contact our club chair, Vikki at chair@erfcjuniors.co.uk, or our Kit Shop Manager, Steve at kitshop@erfcjuniors.co.uk, if you could help. Many thanks
